PRINCETON, N.J. — Freshman Humza Khan outlasted his opponent in a five-game match at the No. 6 position, helping the men's squash team avoid being shut out for the first time this season in Friday's Ivy League match against Princeton at Jadwin Gymnasium. The heavily-favored Tigers won, 8-1.

Cornell (5-8, 1-4 Ivy League), which is ranked 13th in the nation by the College Squash Association, got its lone point from Khan's strong effort. He won the second and third games of his match against William Ezratty before being forced into a fifth, which he won in extra points, 13-11.

Fourth-ranked Princeton (9-2, 4-2), which needed to go all the way to the last match for a 5-4 victory over the Big Red last year, conceded just four games in Friday's match. Khan delivered three of those for Cornell, while sophomore Nicholas Göth Errington provided the other to open his match at No. 4.

The Big Red returns home for its next match, hosting Penn at noon Sunday at Belkin International Squash Courts in Ithaca.
