MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – A day after becoming Cornell men's swimming and diving's first NCAA qualifier in a diving event since 1987, junior Brett Hébert made the cut for the 1-meter final at the NCAA Zone A Diving Championships on Tuesday at West Virginia's Aquatic Center at Mylan Park in Morgantown, W.Va.
Hébert's successful showing at the NCAA Zone A Diving Championships continued in the 1-meter competition, as his score of 285.30 in prelims qualified him for finals. After entering finals sitting in 14th place, Hébert tallied a personal-best 316.10 points in finals, a mark which ranks second all-time in Big Red diving history in the six dive format. This brought his grand point total for the day to 601.40 points, securing him a top-10 finish, as he placed 10th overall. This marks the second-straight year that Hébert has notched a top-10 finish in the event at the NCAA Zone A Diving Championships, as he finished ninth in 2019.
Hébert will move on to compete in the 3-meter diving at the 2020 NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships from Wednesday, March 25 to Saturday, March 28 in Indianapolis, Ind.
