ITHACA, N.Y. - The #1 Cornell women's ice hockey team will host Mercyhurst for the first round of the NCAA Tournament. The game, which will take place at Lynah Rink in Ithaca, N.Y., is scheduled for a 2 p.m. puck drop on Saturday, March 14.

Cornell finished as ECAC Hockey regular-season champions with a league mark of 19-0-3 for its first undefeated regular-season in league play. After defeating Harvard, 4-0, in the semifinals, the Big Red advanced to the ECAC Hockey title game for the ninth time in the last 11 years, where it fell to Princeton, 3-2, in overtime.
Should the Big Red notch a victory over the Lakers, Cornell will face the winner of the Minnesota-Ohio State NCAA quarterfinal game for it semifinal.
This marks the eighth time in program history that Cornell has reached the NCAA Tournament. Cornell earned a spot last year (2019), in 2017 and from 2010-14.
