10 Big Red Student-Athletes Earn Winter Academic All-Ivy Accolades

ITHACA, N.Y. – Following another winter season of Ivy League sports, the conference released its list of student-athletes that earned winter Academic All-Ivy accolades on Thursday, and 10 Cornell student-athletes were recognized.

The 80 total men and women that were honored by the league were starters or key reserves on an officially recognized varsity team holding at least a 3.0 cumulative grade point average. Each institution was responsible for nominating five men and five women from its eligible student-athletes.

Cornell Honorees

Morgan Barron, Men's Hockey (Jr., Applied Economics and Management - Halifax, Nova Scotia)
One of 10 finalists for the Hobey Baker Memorial Award...ECAC Hockey Player of the Year...All-ECAC Hockey first team...All-Ivy first team...two-time leader in team scoring.
 
Noah Baughman, Wrestling (Sr., Applied Economics and Management - Doylestown, Ohio)
NCAA Qualifier (2020)…EIWA All-Academic Team (2020)…3x first-team All-Ivy League (2017, 2018, 2020)…Champion at the 2019 Jonathan Kaloust Bearcat and Cornell Opens.
 
Matthew Galajda, Men's Hockey (Jr., Hotel Administration - Aurora, Ontario)
Ivy League Co-Player of the Year...All-Ivy first team...one of five finalists for the Mike Richter Award...All-ECAC Hockey third team...tied for program record for most shutouts.
 
Yanni Kaldis, Men's Hockey (Sr., Communications – Montreal, Quebec)
Four-time All-Ivy first team...All-ECAC Hockey first team...most career points for Cornell defenseman in 17 years...team leader in power-play points and blocked shots.
 
Jack Mahoney, Swimming & Diving (Sr., History - Cheltenham, Pa.)
Finished eighth in the 50 freestyle and 100 butterfly at Ivies in 2020...swam on two school record breaking 400-medley and 400-freestyle relays…also holds school records in 100 freestyle and 100 butterfly.
 
Laura Bagwell-Katalinich, Women's Basketball (Sr., Communications – Minneapolis, Minn.)
Honorable Mention All-Ivy in 2020...CoSIDA First Team Academic All-District...Senior CLASS Award Candidate...two-time All-Ivy selection.
 
Lindsay Browning, Women's Hockey (Jr., Biomedical Engineering - Penfield, N.Y.)
USCHO second team All-American…All-Ivy first team…All-ECAC Hockey first team...Ivy League and ECAC Hockey Goalie of the Year...holds Cornell single-season records for wins, shutouts and save percentage.
 
Haley Harder, Equestrian (Sr., Global and Public Health Sciences - Shelburne, Vt.)
Qualified for Zones in intermediate fences after being named the Reserve Champion in the event at the 2020 Regional Championships.
 
Claire Kao, Women's Track & Field (Sr., Government - Laguna Niguel, Calif.)
2020 Ivy League Indoor Pole Vault Champion…All-Ivy first team (Pole Vault)…Broke indoor pole vault record; surpassed her own record at Ivy League Heps.
 
Micah Zandee-Hart, Women's Hockey (Sr., Psychology - Saanichton, B.C.)
All-Ivy first team...All-ECAC Hockey second team...USCHO third team All-American...team captain...four-time All-Ivy...three-time All-ECAC Hockey...two-time All-American.
