ITHACA, N.Y. - Senior forward Amy Curlew from the Cornell women's ice hockey team has been drafted to play with the new expansion team, Toronto, in the National Women's Hockey League (NWHL).

Curlew recently wrapped up a successful career with the Big Red, scoring 24 goals to go with 36 assists for 60 points in 121 collegiate games. In a standout senior season, Curlew racked up a plus-30 rating for a career plus-42 rank. A big contributor on Cornell's special teams, Curlew ranked second on the team with four of the 25 power-play goals.

The native of Goose Bay, Newfoundland and Labrador scored seven goals in her first year on East Hill. With four goals notched in her sophomore and junior seasons, Curlew helped grow the program to its #1 ranking in the 2019-20 season's final USCHO.com and USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine polls. A senior on the first Cornell women's team to be ranked #1 completed her first hat trick against Brown in November 2019. Starting out the season as a goal-scorer, Curlew switched over to more of a playmaker's role with 11 assists in the second half of the season.

The new NWHL team based on Toronto will be the sixth team in the NWHL. The NWHL's new team will be joining the five existing teams - Boston Pride, Buffalo Beauts, Connecticut Whale, Metropolitan Riveters, and Minnesota Whitecaps - for the 2020-21 season.
