ITHACA, N.Y. -- Cornell freshman quarterback Jameson Wang has been named the Ivy League Football Rookie of the Week after his performance in helping Cornell top Colgate this past weekend. Wang becomes the first Big Red rookie to capture the award since teammate Jake Stebbins was selected for on Oct. 28, 2019.

Wang posted a game-high 84 rushing yards and accounted for two touchdowns in a 34-20 victory over the Raiders on Friday evening, giving the Big Red its first Friday triumph since 1892. Wang threw for a 4-yard touchdown to get Cornell on the board and then ran for an 18-yard go-ahead score to launch the team to its first win of 2021. In doing so, Wang became the first Cornell freshman to pass and run for a touchdown in the same game in school history. His 84 yards came on just 12 carries, while he also completed 4-of-4 passes for 16 yards as the offense piled up 480 yards in its first win over Colgate since 2016.

Wang made his varsity debut a week ago against Harvard, rushing three times for 13 yards. He will be back in action this weekend when the Big Red hosts Brown
