ITHACA, N.Y.—
Caroline Ramsey netted her 17th goal of the season, but it wasn't enough as #11 Harvard scored two late goals to take down the Big Red, 3-1, in its final home game of the season.
Cornell struck first when the Big Red lined up for a penalty corner and Ramsey fired off a shot with helpers from the nation's leading assist duo
Kate MacGillis (insert) and
Bridget Mahoney (stop).
While the Big Red were on the board first, Harvard answered back in the second quarter with a penalty corner goal of its own by Hannah Pearce.
Playing to a scoreless third frame, it still looked like anybody's game. That was until Hannah Pierce rifled off a shot for another Crimson goal at the 6:10 mark of the fourth quarter before a penalty corner redirect just over two minutes later sealed the deal for Harvard.
The Big Red had just five shots all day while Harvard tallied 18. In net,
Aerin Park recorded four saves.
With the win, the Crimson clinch a berth to the 2021 NCAA Tournament and at least a share of the 2021 Ivy League title. It was Harvard's ninth win in a row.
Cornell continues its weekend of ranked opponents and looks to respond tomorrow when it travels to Syracuse to play the #9 Orange at 2 p.m. at J.S. Coyne Stadium.
