SAN DIEGO - Competing at the 2021 Intercollegiate Tennis Association National Fall Championships, Cornell men's tennis senior Alafia Ayeni finished his weekend 1-1, advancing to the round of 16 in a bracket featuring many of the top collegiate players in the country.
 
Ayeni won his first round match in decisive fashion, defeating No. 13-ranked and No. 6-seeded Gabriel Diallo of Kentucky in straight sets, 6-3, 7-5. In the second round, Ayeni played three sets with No. 46-ranked Mason Beiler of Oklahoma, winning the first set 6-2, but ultimately falling by scores of 6-3, 6-2 in the second and third sets. Ayeni did not play in the consolation bracket.

Ayeni's play in San Diego wraps up the fall tennis season for the Big Red, with dual matches starting in the winter.
