ITHACA, N.Y. — The women's squash team wraps up the fall semester with a trip to Columbia for its its Ivy League opener at noon Sunday.
Live scoring is scheduled to be available through csasquash.com.
Cornell opened the season by winning two of three neutral-site matches Nov. 19-21 in Philadelphia, defeating Stanford (5-2) and Bates (9-0) before a narrow 5-4 loss to Virginia. Those results aligned with all involved teams' current placement in the College Squash Association national rankings, with Cornell sitting at eighth as of Nov. 18 (though the CSA will likely update its rankings later this week). Seniors
Sivasangari Subramaniam and
Lily Zelov, and junior
McKenna Stoltz won each of their three respective matches.
The Big Red opens Ivy League competition at S.L. Green StreetSquash Center in New York against a Lions team that is tabbed sixth in the most recent CSA rankings, which is down two spots from its preseason ranking after a down-to the-wire 5-4 upset loss to then-#9 Virginia on Nov. 14.
The Big Red's lead in the all-time series against its in-state Ancient Eight rival has been trimmed to 8-6 after an 8-1 loss early in the 2019-20 season. Cornell's point came from a Subramaniam sweep at the top spot in the lineup.
Cornell was originally scheduled to open the weekend Saturday at Williams, but that match has since been canceled.
