6/21/2021 10:00:00 AM

ITHACA, N.Y. – Cornell Head Football Coach David Archer '05 and his staff are excited to announce the newest members of the Big Red Football family. The Class of 2025, featuring 33 members, will hit campus this fall looking to help Cornell to its first Ivy title on the gridiron since 1990.

Hailing from 20 states, a class-high five recruits played high school football in New Jersey and three join the Big Red from California, Pennsylvania and Texas. Florida, Illinois, New York and Tennessee provide two student-athletes apiece and 12 other states send one player each to Ithaca. In all, 17 of the players will join the offense, 14 will aid the defense and two will concentrate on special teams.

On the defensive side of the ball, the Big Red brings in six defensive back/safeties, four linebackers and four defensive linemen. Cornell went for plenty of skill players on the offense, bringing in four wide receivers, four running backs and three quarterbacks. The offensive line will also be bolstered with the addition of six student-athletes who average 6-4 and 278 pounds. Cornell also added a place-kicker/punter and long snapper for next season.

The Big Red opens the 2021 season at home against 2020 FCS playoff participant VMI on Saturday, Sept. 18 at Schoellkopf Field in Ithaca, N.Y.
