Today, Cornell begins celebrating 50 years of women's varsity athletics. Throughout the academic year, we will spotlight pioneers, great moments and many alumnae whose experience in sports helped propel them to success after graduation. We are excited to highlight many more stories in the weeks ahead.
CornellBigRed.com and social media will be flooded with nearly 200 photo galleries from the 1970s to present day, many coming from scans of photo negatives we have recently digitized that have not been seen in decades. We will present periodic feature stories plus daily social media content and much more. The announcement of the top 50 women's varsity athletes in Cornell history will highlight the celebration in May 2022.
If you have prints, negatives, scans or video on reels, VHS, CD or DVD that you're willing to share as part of this celebration, please contact
Jeremy Hartigan at
jh295@cornell.edu. In addition, your story ideas (about yourself, your teammates, your team and your coaches) are both welcomed and encouraged. We can't promise to tackle every good idea brought to us, but we aim to do as many as possible.
All of this couldn't be accomplished without your help and support of the Big Red in general, and Cornell women's athletes in particular. Thank you! Please enjoy as we celebrate five decades of women's varsity athletics and celebrate all who established the foundation that will continue to inspire the next 50 years of strong, talented and dedicated women who will wear the Cornell C.
