NEW YORK CITY – The Cornell women's tennis team concluded its play at the Columbia Women's Tennis Invitational on Sunday at the Billie Jean King National Tennis Center. Two members of the program placed, with senior Maria Adiaconitei taking 3rd place in the Brooklyn bracket and freshman Seychelle Balog placing 5th in the Albany bracket.
 
Adiaconitei finished the weekend 1-1 in singles, defeating Shiori Ito of Syracuse in three sets (2-6, 7-6(3), 10-6). Balog lost her opening round match, but battled back to win two matches in the consolation bracket, defeating Columbia's Tatiana Ziff (3-6, 7-5, 10-6) and Amaya Lopez of St. John's (6-4, 6-4) in the consolation final.
 
Also competing for the Big Red were junior Fatima El Ashram, junior Ashley Huang, freshman Lan Mi, senior Katherine Nguyen, senior Khary Pryce, freshman Alexandra Savu and sophomore Lauren Stein.
