SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Sophomore
Jenny Wong rallied to win her first collegiate dual singles match, but the Cornell women's tennis team was tripped up by Syracuse, 6-1, on Sunday at Drumlins Country Club.
After Syracuse (3-1) won the opening point with victories in each of the three doubles matches, the Orange went on to sweep the opening set of all six singles matches. Wong gave the Big Red its only victory in the waves of second sets, then capped her rally at #6 by winning the super tiebreaker.
With the victory, Syracuse improved to 19-6 all-time against Cornell. Up next for the Big Red is a trip to Virginia for a match against James Madison at 10 a.m. on Sunday, Feb. 6.
