Women’s Soccer and Yale Play to Scoreless Draw on Senior Day

ITHACA, N.Y. – Cornell and Yale played to a scoreless draw at Berman Field on Saturday afternoon on the Big Red's senior day, where nine players were honored in a pregame ceremony.

Seniors Nicole Shulman, Annika DeStefano, and Kendall Patten all earned the start for the Big Red (2-6-5, 0-2-2 Ivy), touching the ball once before being substituted out.

Along with Shulman, DeStefano and Patten, Sydney Waiters, Ashley Durik, Emily St. John, Aidan Julia Reineman, Isabella DeLew, and Sara DeGraw were all honored prior to the match.

"We had a wonderful day celebrating our seniors on Senior Day," Cornell head coach Rob Ferguson said. "Such a deserving group who have done so much to build the culture for many years now. This year really helped drive our soccer identity."

Sophomore Erica Fox made two saves after replacing Shulman in goal, factoring in the shutout for the second time this season.

Junior Reagan Pauwels had a team-high two shots on goal for Cornell, who outshot the Bulldogs, 10-3, and had a 5-2 advantage in shots on target. Reineman, DeGraw, and freshman Tanum Nelson also had a shot on Yale's goalkeeper, Marissa Shorrock, who registered her Ivy League-leading sixth clean sheet.

"The only thing missing today was the win, and not for lack of trying. We created some great chances and put everything on frame, but some incredible saves by the Yale goalkeeper, we win this game. This is the game. Onwards and upwards."

Ellie Rappole had both shots on goal for Yale (5-5-4, 1-1-1 Ivy) in the contest.

Looking Ahead

Cornell will return to the pitch next Saturday when the Big Red travels to Providence, R.I., to take on Brown. First touch from Stevenson-Pincince Field is slated for 3 p.m. Game action will be broadcast on ESPN+.
