ITHACA, N.Y. -- The Cornell field hockey team (7-1, 2-2 Ivy) defeated Lock Haven, 2-1, on Sunday, October 16. Freshman
Rease Coleman earned her first collegiate point in the contest with an assist on the first Big Red Goal.
The first half opened with back-and-forth play with each team recording just one shot in the first 30 minutes of action.
The Big Red found the goal with just over six minutes remaining in the third period. Cornell earned its second penalty corner of the day, sending
Claire Jones ot the service line. Coleman acted as the stopper, setting up
Caroline Ramsey's seventh goal of the season, which she buried top shelf past the Lock Haven DPC.
Cornell found its second goal of the match less than four minutes into the period.
Claire Jones corralled a loose ball in the arc off a blocked shot, and put the ball away to take a 2-0 lead. Lock Haven found a goal of its own halfway through the fourth, but the Big Red held on for the win despite facing a two-man deficit for for 51 seconds, with two players receiving green cards.
