Field Hockey Earns Fourth Straight Win With 3-0 Shutout Over Bucknell

ITHACA, N.Y. -- The Cornell field hockey team (6-3, 2-0 Ivy) shutout Bucknell (4-7, 3-0 Patriot) 3-0 on Sunday, October 2 at Dodson Field. The Big Red effort was led by goals from Olivia Friedberg, Caroline Ramsey, and Isabella Palde.

"A good weekend for us," said head coach Andy Smith. "We played very well again today and had some wonderful performances throughout the team. Our DPC was, again, 100% while we managed to score three great goals and could have had a hat full more."

The Big Red came out storming in the first quarter. Just over a minute into the game, freshman Grace Leahy dodged three Bucknell defenders in the arc and set the ball up just ahead of the end line for Olivia Friedberg to bury in the back right of the goal for her first goal of the season. Eight minutes later, Caroline Ramsey found her sixth goal of the season off a penalty corner that she put past the Bison goalkeeper into the bottom left of the net. Avery Smith served up the corner and Claire Wolfe was the stopper, both earning assists on the goal.

Quarter two was quiet, seeing 14 stoppages form fouls committed by Bucknell compared to Cornell's nine.

The third quarter hosted the third Cornell goal of of the day when Isabella Palde scored her second goal of the season (and weekend) by tipping in a pass from Leahy.

Senior goalkeeper earned her first shutout of the season in the contest.
