SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- Syracuse used a big second-half run and a game-long Big Red cold streak from beyond the arc to collect a 78-63 win over Cornell on Saturday afternoon at the JMA Wireless Dome. The Orange improved to 8-4, while the Big Red slipped to 7-3 with all three defeats on the road at ACC opponents.

Sean Hansen scored 11 with seven rebounds, three assists and two steals. Both
Keller Boothby and

For the second straight year at the Dome, Cornell set a new team record with its 48 3-point attempts, but despite getting open shot after open shot, could connect on just 13 (27 percent). The 18-9 foul count in Syracuse's advantage also allowed the home team to post a 13-0 edge in made free throws.
All five Syracuse scorers reached double figures, with Joe Girardi posting a game-high 19 points. Jesse Edwards added 11 points, 12 rebounds and five blocked shots as an obstacle in the middle. The Orange shot 50 percent from the floor, including 57 percent after halftime when the home team outscored the Big Red 41-26.
Cornell led by as many as 11 points in the first half before going on a scoring drought, and the Orange took advantage as the Big Red missed 21 of 22 shots at one point. Syracuse led by as many as 20 with eight minutes to play and the visitors never recovered.
