AKRON, Ohio -- Cornell men's swim and dive finished at second at the Zippy Invitational this past weekend. The final day of the campaign ended with 11 top-three finishes across all heats and events by the Cornell men.
To open the day,
Chris Kostelni tallied a third place finish in the 1650 yard Freestyle with a time of 15:36.15. The next men's event, the 200 yard Backstroke, saw a third place finish by
Pietro Ubertalli in the A-Final and a third place finish by
Logan Holt in the B-Final. The 100 yard Freestyle hosted a pair of 1-2 finishes on the men's side; first in the B-Final when
Jack Banks and
Daniel Simoes touched the wall only .2 seconds apart at 44.76 and 44.96.
Jeremy Marcin and
Mark Rydberg followed suit with a 45.04 and 45.94 finish in the C-Final.
Jack Valiquette finished atop his heat in the B-Final of the 200 yard Breaststroke with a time os 1:59.07. The Big Red grabbed 2-3 in the A-Final of the 200 yard Butterfly, with
Joseph Gurski and
Jacques Grove clocking the podium finishes. The Big Red finished off the day, and the Invitational, with a third place finish in the 400 yard Relay with
Dominic Edwards, Banks, Gurski, and Simoes combining for a time of 2:57.88.
UP NEXT
The Zippy Invite wraps up the fall slate for the Big Red, but Cornell will return in the Spring when it hosts Yale on January 10th and 11th for a meet in Teagle Pool.
