ITHACA, N.Y. – Following a fourth-place finish at the ECAC Indoor Championships over the weekend, the Big Red men's tennis team travels to a neutral site for a 9:30 a.m. Sunday match against Vanderbilt at Harvard's Murr Center in Boston.
Junior
Vladislav Melnic and senior
Evan Bynoe rallied past all their respective opponents in singles play during last weekend's trio of matches at ECACs – which were hosted by the Big Red at Reis Tennis Center --while the doubles team of
Nathan Mao and
Adit Sinha prevailed in its matchups, falling only to Princeton before defeating opponents from Yale and Columbia.
Cornell (8-2) had a red-hot start to the season, going undefeated in its first eight matches, which won the team votes but placed the Big Red outside the Intercollegiate Tennis Association's Top 25 Coaches Poll.
Vanderbilt (6-0) is undefeated and coming off a 5-0 win over Tennessee State. Sunday will mark the first-ever meeting between the Big Red and the Commodores. As of the last rankings release by the ITA on Feb. 6, Vanderbilt had two ranked singles entries in George Harwell (#26) and Joubert Klopper (#94).
