Women's Tennis To Visit Big Ten Foes

2/23/2022 10:45:00 AM

ITHACA, N.Y. – Following a postponed match against Boston College at a neutral site in Binghamton, the women's tennis team travels to the Midwest for a pair of matches against Big Ten programs this weekend. The Big Red will take on Indiana at 11 a.m. Saturday, then shift one state to the west to take on Illinois at noon CST Sunday.

In early February, the Big Red got a taste of the Ivy League competition when it hosted the ECAC Indoor Championships. Freshman Lan Mi and senior Valerie Ho shone for Cornell, winning their respective singles matches against Yale and defeating the Bulldogs and Dartmouth in doubles. Despite a strong showing, their conference foes battled back to win the contests.

Indiana (5-3) are coming off back-to-back 4-0 losses to non-conference rivals Kentucky and Tennessee, while Illinois (6-3) is well-rested following a 4-0 win against Missouri on Feb.y 13. The Big Red is 0-3 against the Hoosiers, with the most recent meeting on February 15, 2020, ending 4-1 in favor of Indiana. Sunday will be the first meeting between Cornell and Illinois.

Both matches have live streams through the hosts' websites, as well at live stats.
