BOSTON — Six more sweeps, including a trio of matches at the top of the lineup that needed fewer than 20 minutes to reach completion, powered the Cornell women's squash team to another dominating victory at the College Squash Association's National Collegiate Women's Team Championship on Saturday. The Big Red dispatched of Tufts, 8-1, to set up a date with Dartmouth in the Kurtz Cup final at 11:30 a.m. Sunday at Murr Center.
Cornell (6-8) continues to justify its placement at the top seed in the Kurtz Cup, which is the 'B' division of the national championships for teams tabbed ninth- through 16th in the CSA's rankings. The ninth-ranked Big Red rolled to its third straight victory, this time defeating a 12th-ranked Jumbos squad that it hasn't crossed paths with since 2009.
Sunday's championship match will be a different story, though. Aside from just being Ivy League rivals, Cornell and 10th-ranked Dartmouth have clashed for the Kurtz Cup title as recently as 2019. The Big Red prevailed in that match, 6-3, for the program's third Kurtz Cup crown. More recently,
Selena Georgieva rallied for a key five-game victory in the Big Red's 6-3 victory over the Big Green on Jan. 22.
