ITHACA, N.Y. – The Cornell men's tennis team snapped a three-match losing streak with a 6-1 victory over Nebraska on Saturday afternoon at Reis Tennis Center.

The Big Red started the day with a tweaked doubles lineup that saw senior Alafia Ayeni teamed with classmate Pietro Rimondini at the #1 position, leading to a 6-2 victory. The freshman duo of Nathan Mao and Adit Sinha won by an identical score at #2, and Cornell was off and running with an early 1-0 lead.

Singles play was similar tilted in the Big Red's direction, especially at the top of the lineup where Ayeni and junior Vladislav Melnic breezed to straight-set victories from the top two positions to stake Cornell to a 3-0 lead. Sophomore Jack McCarthy clinched the match with a 6-3, 6-3 victory at #6.

Both Rimondini (#4) and Sinha (#5) tacked on the remaining points for Cornell with wins in super tiebreakers.

The Big Red was also originally scheduled to compete against Colgate on Saturday afternoon and both St. John's and Binghamton on Sunday, but all three of those matches have been canceled. Cornell's next matches are on Sunday, March 20, when it takes on Western Michigan (11 a.m.) and Bucknell (3:30 p.m.) at Reis.
