Crist Homers For Second Straight Day, Not Enough vs. Columbia

ITHACA, N.Y. -- Senior Hanna Crist homered for the second straight day and Lilly Travieso had a pair of hits, but the Big Red never recovered from Columbia's three-run first in a 9-1 Lions victory on Saturday afternoon at Niemand*Robison Field. The Big Red closed the weekend with a 4-11 record (1-2 Ivy), while Columbia improved to 6-15 (4-2 Ivy).

Crist's sixth-inning homer kept the game going after the Lions gained an 8-0 lead in the sixth. She ended the afternoon 1-for-2 with a walk. Both Maicie Levitt and Marisa Zorilla also had a hit and a walk to reach base twice each.

Abby Stuart had a big day for the Lions, going 3-for-4 with a home run and six RBI. Maddie Souza also had two hits as Columbia notched 11 on the day. Jordan Hill, who had all three decisions on the weekend, went the distance and surrendered just the one run and six hits in 7.0 innings of work to improve to 4-5 on the year.

The Lions scored three in the first and two more in the third to take control of the game. Mia Burd was solid in relief, scattering six hits and surrendering three earned runs over the final 4.1 innings of work, but the damage was already done.

Cornell will head to Binghamton for a midweek doubleheader on Wednesday, March 30 at 3 p.m., then heads to Penn for a three-game set beginning with a doubleheader on Saturday, April 2 at 12:30 p.m.
