ITHACA, N.Y. -- Cornell junior field hockey player Caroline Ramsey has earned selection to the U.S. Women's Field Hockey national team for the upcoming 2022 Women's FIH Hockey Junior World Cup. The event will take place from April 1-12 in Potchefstroom, South Africa.

Ramsey, named to the U.S. Women's U-21 Field Hockey national team earlier this winter, becomes the first active Cornell field hockey player ever named to the one of the junior or senior national teams.

The Junior USWNT sits in Pool A with Canada, The Netherlands and Zimbabwe. They open up JWC play on Friday, April 1 against The Netherlands at 6:00 a.m. ET, and then face Zimbabwe on Saturday, April 2 at 6:00 a.m. ET and Canada on Monday, April 4 at 10:30 a.m. ET. Placement games are set for Thursday, April 7, Quarterfinals on Friday, April 8, Semifinals on Sunday, April 10 and Finals on Tuesday, April 12. All matches of the Junior World Cup will be streamed live on Watch.Hockey.  Links will be posted on Cornell field hockey social media as well.

"This is an incredible achievement for Caroline, who has shown unbelievable dedication and resolve in achieving this," said Cornell field hockey head coach Andy Smith. "She was sensational last season, clearly one of the best players in the country, and wholeheartedly deserves this. We are all excited to see her perform on the global stage."

The Junior USWNT will have a pre-tournament training camp from March 18-20 at Queens University in Charlotte, N.C. The squad will depart on March 26 to make the trip to South Africa.

Ramsey powered the Big Red offense this season, as the junior captain finished the season fourth in the NCAA in points per game (2.35) and added four assists en route to unanimous first-team All-Ivy League honors. The New Vernon, N.J. native's drag flick on penalty corners accounted for each of her single season school record 18 goals in 2021, while her 40 points also set a new season Cornell mark. She also captured a spot on the National Field Hockey Coaches Association All-Mideast Region first team.

In addition to Ramsey, incoming freshman Grace Leahy '26 will represent Canada at the World Cup. Look for special features as the tournament progresses on both of them
