ITHACA, N.Y. -- Nationally-ranked Yale closed out a 4-1 win over Cornell on Saturday afternoon at Reis Tennis Center. The Big Red fell to 7-10 (2-2 Ivy) with the loss, while the 59th-ranked Bulldogs improved to 12-8 (3-1 Ivy).

The Big Red got off to a hot start, claiming the doubles point after breaking a 1-1 tie at No. 2 doubles, with Maria Adiaconitei and Alexandra Savu picking up a 7-5 win over Caroline Dunleavy and Kathy Wang.

The Bulldogs swept four decisions in singles with straight sets wins at No. 1, 4 and 5, but it was a tight three-set victory by Mirabelle Brettkelly over Lauren Stein at No. 3 singles that gave the Bulldogs the win. Katherine Nguyen and Dunleavy were tied at a set apiece before the match was abandoned.

Cornell will attempt to get back on the winning track when it welcomes Brown to the Reis Tennis Center on Sunday, April 17 at 12 p.m.
