NEW HAVEN, Conn. -- The Cornell men's tennis team earned a 4-3 win at Yale on Saturday afternoon, improving to 2-1 in Ivy play with the victory. The Big Red improved to 15-6 overall, while the Bulldogs fell to 9-10 (1-3 Ivy).
Cornell rallied to claim the doubles point after dropping the first completed match, winning at No. 1 and No. 3, with
Pietro Rimondini and
Evan Bynoe clinching the point with a 7-6 triumph.
The Big Red went 3-1 oin the top four spots of the lineup to earn the victory, retiring at No. 5 and No. 6 after the match had been won. No. 42
Alafia Ayeni topped 114th-ranked Michael Sun in the top spot on the ladder in straight sets, 6-2, 6-2.
Radu Papoe and Rimondini also closed out straight sets victories at No. 3 and 4 to claim the team's 15th win of the year.
Cornell will meet Brown on Sunday, April 17 at 1 p.m. in Providence, R.I.
