CHAMPAIGN, Ill. -- Senior Alafia Ayeni and junior Vladislav Melnic had their run at the 2022 NCAA Championship ended in the Round of 16 by Baylor's ranked tandem of Jake Fin Bass and Svewn Lah on Wednesday afternoon at Illinois' Khan Outdoor Tennis Complex. The Big Red doubles team closed its season with a 19-4 record. 

The third-seeded Baylor team earned a hard-fought 6-2, 6-4 contest to advance to the quarterfinals. It was the final match in a Cornell uniform for Ayeni, the two-time first-team All-Ivy singles player who was a first-team pick in doubles with Melnic this season. Ayeni also made the national singles tournament, falling in three sets in the first round.
