PRINCETON, N.J. -- No. 23 Yale held Cornell scoreless in the first and third quarters, scoring the first five and leading from wire-to-wire in a 16-6 win over the Big Red on Friday evening at Princeton's Class of 1952 Stadium in an Ivy League Women's Lacrosse Tournament semifinal. The Bulldogs improved to 11-5 and advance to Sunday's noon final against the winner of No. 9 Princeton and Harvard. Cornell closes the season at 8-8.

The storm came early for the Big Red, before the rain picked back up. Yale scored five unanswered, including four in the first 3:47, and never looked back. Cornell played even over the second quarter, but the damage was done.
DeWinter had a goal and an assist at the break, while Brazier had a goal and three draw controls, helping Cornell neutralize Yale's early dominance on the draw circle.
Ellie Horner made three saves off the bench between the pipes. Yale's Clare Boone made five stops and Olivia Penoyer notched a goal and three assists. Yale held a 20-15 edge in shots and an 8-6 advantage on the draw circle.
The third saw Yale score the only three goals and hold the Big Red scoreless for 17:03 before
Sophie Ward broke the streak, much like she did in the second quarter after a 15:48 drought. Her second goal of the afternoon make it 12-5, but two more Bulldog goals put it away.
The Big Red, winner of the 2016 Ivy Tournament, fell to 3-8 all-time in the event. Cornell closed the 2022 campaign with a number of milestones met, in addition to its ninth conference tournament appearance. With 274 points this season, Cornell lands ninth on the single-season list, while its 212 goals ranks fourth. The 218 draw control wins sits second (222 in 2017) and its 51 free position goals is third. In addition to McGahan's 424 saves, her 26 wins in goal ranks third all-time for the Big Red.
