HARRISBURG, Pa. --
Ashley Ardila finished fourth at the 2022 IHSA National Championship in the Individual Introductory Equitation on the flat on Friday at the Pennsylvania Farm Show Complex & Expo Center. Ardila was the lone Cornell equestrian team member to reach the national show.
Ardila, who was the Reserve Champion at the IHSA Zone 2 Championships at St. Lawrence in April, finished ahead of 12 competitors in the 16-person field won by Penn State's Emily Walker. She finished ahead of riders from Skidmore, UNC Greensboro and Georgia, among others. Ardila's family traveled from Colombia to watch her compete for the very first time as a collegiate student-athlete.
In addition, Cornell Equestrian team horse, Cocu, was the winning ride for the Alumni Fences division, taking his rider to a score of 83 on the way to the win.
