Men's Ice Hockey Announces Class of 2026

ITHACA, N.Y. – The Cornell men's ice hockey team has announced that eight newcomers (six freshmen, two junior transfers) will join the Big Red for the upcoming 2022-23 season it was announced today by Mike Schafer, the Jay R. Bloom '77 Head Coach of Men's Hockey. Below are bios for each of the incoming recruits.

THE NEWCOMERS
 
Dalton Bancroft
F   Madoc, Ontario/Trenton Golden Hawks (OJHL)
Bancroft comes to Cornell having earned the MVP of the Ontario Junior Hockey League, while also being the top scorer in the league with 37 goals, 55 assists, for 92 points in 54 games, earning a spot on the OJHL first All-Star Team. He also spent a season with the St. Mary's Falcons in the Greater Ontario Junior Hockey league before an initial stop in Trenton for a season in 2019-20. The 2020-21 COVID pandemic season saw Bancroft suit up for the Amherst Ramblers in the Maritime Junior Hockey League, where he again produced over a point per game in shortened season with 25 points in 22 games. He will bring an offensive touch and physical presence being 6-3 and 200 pounds, which will be instrumental addition to the Big Red's forward group this season.
 
Nick DeSantis
F   Collegeville, Pa./Madison Capitols (USHL)
DeSantis enters Cornell having won the Eastern Conference Championship in the USHL with the Madison Capitols, and falling to eventual Clark Cup winner Sioux City in the USHL Finals. Prior to this past season, DeSantis came through the Selects Academy at South Kent program, which then include stops in the USHL, NAHL, BCHL. Standing at 5-9, DeSantis bring yet another offensive punch to the Big Red with his exciting offensive play as he produced 15 goals and 30 assists for 45 points in 60 games in the USHL this past season.
 
Sean Donaldson
F   Vancouver, British Columbia/Nanaimo Clippers (BCHL)
Donaldson arrives to the Big Red after a breakout season in Nanaimo, finishing in the top 10 in BCHL scoring, compiling 36 goals and 34 assists for 70 points in 47 games. He helped lead a stellar postseason run to the BCHL finals for Nanaimo, eventually losing to the Penticton Vees. All of this earned him a spot on the BCHL second All-Star Team. Donaldson also played some for the Sioux Falls Stampede in the USHL along with stops in Cowichan and Trail of the BCHL before leading Nanaimo this past season. Prior to junior hockey, Donaldson was a standout at the Burnaby Winter Club Prep Academy for two seasons. He will be yet another great addition to Cornell's incoming class up front.
 
Remington Keopple
GK   Somerset, Wis./Des Moines Buccaneers
Keopple enters Cornell after two seasons with Des Moines and will be a great addition to Cornell's tradition of stellar goaltenders. Standing 6-2, while in Des Moines, Keopple compiled a 2.91 goals against average, and an .895 save percentage with a 24-29-4 record in 63 games. Keopple also participated in the 2021 BioSteel All-American Prospects Game. Prior to his two seasons in Des Moines, Keopple attended Hill-Murray HS in Minnesota, while also playing for his home state's midget team, Team Wisconsin. Keopple's addition will bolster the Big Red crease and look to combine efforts with returner Ian Shane.

Ryan McInchak
GK   Trenton, Mich./American International
McInchak comes to Cornell as a transfer student from American International College. He will enter his junior year, and will round out the Big Red goaltenders alongside returning sophomore Ian Shane, and incoming freshmen Remington Keopple. McInchak played three years of junior hockey prior to entering AIC, with stops with New Jersey Hitmen of the NCDC, the Lincoln Stars and Muskegon Lumberjacks of the USHL, and the New Jersey Titans of the NAHL. At AIC, McInchak appeared in three games, with a 1.81 goals against average, combined with a .964 save percentage, with one shutout for a 1-1-1 overall record.
 
Jack O'Brien
D   White Rock, British Columbia/Nanaimo Clippers (BCHL)
O'Brien arrives at Cornell after three seasons with the Nanaimo Clippers. He was an instrumental part of Nanaimo's run to the BCHL finals anchoring their defensive core, while also producing one goal and 14 assists for 15 points in 48 games this season. He was Nanaimo's mainstay and leader on defense for three seasons. Prior to Jack's stint in Nanaimo, he attend the Delta Hockey Academy in Delta, British Columbia.
 
Gabriel Seger
F   Uppsala, Sweden/Union
Seger enters Cornell as a transfer from Union College. He will be a junior, and lis ooking to add to Cornell's already heavy returning group of forwards. He brings two years of experience up the middle for Cornell and is well known in the league from his previous two seasons. For the 2019-20 season, Seger earned All Rookie Team recognition in ECAC Hockey. Prior to Union he spent one season for the Amarillo Bulls in the North American Hockey League posting 18 goals and 52 assists for 70 points in 58 games, earning a spot on the NAHL All-South Division Team. Before his arrival in the U.S. for junior hockey, he played one season for the Vaxjo Lakers HC J20 in the J20 SuperElit league in Sweden. Prior to Vaxjo, his entire youth hockey was played for Brynas IF in Sweden. Standing 6-4 215 lbs, he brings 14 goals and 29 assists for 43 points in 71 games from Union to Cornell's forward group.
 
Winter Wallace
F   Boulder, Colo./Youngston Phantoms (USHL)

Wallace will enter Cornell after his best junior hockey season with the Youngstown Phantoms. He was an integral piece to Youngstown's forward group this season and finished with 14 goals and 16 assists for 30 points in 49 games. Prior to Youngstown, he also played for the Lincoln Stars of the USHL and attended Shattuck St. Mary's for three years of high school. He brings yet another physical and powerful component to the Big Red offense with his 6-3, 215-pound frame.
