ITHACA, N.Y. — After winning all three games of its season-opening road trip to begin the season, the Cornell men's soccer team welcomes Vermont to Berman Field for the Big Red's home opener on Tuesday night.

Keep the Streak Going
• The Big Red are seeking its first 4-0 start since 2012 when the team won its first 12 games before opening the season on a 13-game unbeaten streak.
• Cornell has won its first four games in a season nine times since 1946, doing so in 1965, 1971, 1975, 1980, 1984, 1993, 1995, 1996, and 2012.
• Dating back to last year, Cornell is unbeaten in its last five games, after winning its final two games in 2021. The Big Red are 14-3-2 over its last 19 games, posting a .789 win percentage during the span.
Friedberg's Strong Start
• Freshman goalkeeper
Ryan Friedberg has shined for the Big Red between the pipes so far this season. He is currently 3-0 with a 0.33 goals-against average and .833 save percentage.
• Friedberg's 0.33 goals-against average is tied for the 12th-best average by a Division I goalkeeper, and is the second-lowest by a freshman. Presbyterian's Leo Stritter has not conceded a goal in 328:58.
• The Westfield, N.J., native has an .833 save percentage, which is tied for the 28th-best figure in the country. He is tied with UCF's Juanvi Muñoz for third amongst first-year players.
• With his consecutive clean sheets, Friedberg is the fourth Cornell freshman goalkeeper with multiple shutouts in a season and the first since Rick Pflasterer had a pair in 2009.
Clean Sheet Club
• Cornell has recorded consecutive clean sheets for the first time since Oct. 8 and Oct. 12, 2019, against Colgate and Harvard, respectively.
• With a shutout Tuesday, it would be Cornell's first time not conceding a goal in three consecutive matches since 2014 against Colgate (Oct. 14), Yale (Oct. 18) and Brown (Oct. 25).
Berman Field Advantage
• Cornell is unbeaten in its last 15 home games at Berman Field, a streak that spans back to the beginning of the 2019 season.
• The Big Red's last home loss came on Nov. 3, 2018, in a 2-1 setback against Dartmouth. Since the loss to the Big Green, Cornell is 12-0-3 (.900) on its home turf over the last three seasons.
• Of the Division I schools with at least 15 home games played since 2019, Cornell has posted the second-highest home win percentage, only trailing Missouri State, who has posted a 29-2-2 record (.909) over the past three-plus years.
• Since the beginning of the 2019 season, Cornell is the only team, with a minimum 15 home games played, to not lose a home game. The Big Red's Ivy League foe, Yale, who is 13-1-2 in the timeframe, are the lone program with one home loss since 2019.
Scouting the Catamounts
• Vermont enters Tuesday's contest with a 3-1-1 record and on a three-game unbeaten streak (2-0-1). The Catamounts played to a 1-1 draw with then-No. 15 Syracuse on Sept. 2 before defeating Princeton on Sept. 5, 2-0, and Harvard, 2-1, on Saturday. Tuesday's match is the last of the Catamounts' three consecutive games against Ivy League opposition.
• Yaniv Bazini scored in the 85th minute for Vermont in the Catamounts' 2-1 victory over Harvard on Saturday. Bazini has a Vermont-leading four points on the power of two goals.
• Nate Silveira has started four of Vermont's five matches so far this season, posting a 2-1-1 record with a 0.75 goals-against average and a .786 save percentage.
Series vs. Vermont
• Tuesday will be the fifth meeting between Vermont and Cornell, and the first since Sept. 12, 2010. The Big Red is 1-3 all-time against the Catamounts.
• Vermont is playing at Berman Field for the second time ever. The previous meeting came on Sept. 23, 2007, in which the Big Red used a goal by then-freshman Brett Sumpio in the 77th minute to defeat the Catamounts, 1-0. Luca Cerretani had a three-save clean sheet for Cornell.
Looking Ahead
Cornell will head back on the road for a match on Saturday in Western New York against Niagara. First touch from Niagara Field is slated for 7 p.m., with game action broadcast on ESPN3. It will be the Big Red's first of three consecutive matches against Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) opponents.
