Aerin Park notched 11 saves in the contest and helped successfully defend against 12 penalty corners.
Cornell conceded an early penalty corner to Michigan at just over two minutes in to the first quarter, but a defensive block from junior midfielder
Julia Darmo prevented a Wolverines goal. Cornell had their first good look at with 11:11 remaining in the first off a
Claire Jones cross, but the cross had a little too much speed for senior attacker
Isabella Palde to get on the end of. Michigan was awarded a penalty corner just a minute later that the Wolverines capitalized on to take a 1-0 lead. Cornell defended three back-to-back penalty corners for Michigan around the six minute mark, including a big save by Park on the third attempt.
With 9:34 remaining in the second quarter, Michigan capitalized off another penalty corner, swinging the ball around the circle to take a 2-0 lead. The Wolverines maintained its lead through the second quarter, entering halftime up 2-0 and allowing zero Cornell shots.

Bridget Mahoney for
Caroline Ramsey. Ramsey's shot was saved by a sprawling effort from the Michigan goalkeeper. Cornell found two more penalty corner chances near the five minute mark of the third, but both shots were just wide right of the goal.
Michigan found its third goal of the game with 5:31 remaining in the fourth period when a lose ball made it to a back-door Wolverine attacker. The Big Red remained scoreless through the fourth quarter to fall 3-0.
The Wolverines were awarded 14 corners compared to Cornell's three. The Big Red were out-shot 16-2 in the contest.

The Big Red return home to Dodson to open Ivy League play with a matchup vs. Dartmouth. The game is set to start at 4 p.m. on Friday, September 23. Cornell will then face Colgate on Sunday, September 25 at 2 p.m. to round out the 2022 series vs. the Raiders.
