ITHACA, N.Y. -- On the strength of four scorers in the top 20 individual finishers, the Cornell women's cross country team took the runner-up spot at Colgate's Harry Lang Invitational on Saturday morning. The Big Red's 69 points trailed only Syracuse, who had the top seven finishers of the day.
In a meet that saw Cornell primarily race its freshmen and sophomores, rookie
Mairead Clas grabbed 13th place overall in 18:41.5, just a hair's breath ahead of classmate
Katja Jackson (18:42.0). Junior
Bella DiPalermo (18:56.5) was the third runner under 19 minutes on the 4,800-meter course, while sophomore
Avery Brull (19:00.3) and freshman
Ava Black (19:01.4) rounded out the team scoring.

The Big Red will return to competition at the Fordham Fiasco on Saturday, Sept. 10 at 10:45 a.m. at Van Cortlandt Park in New York City - the home of the Ivy League Heptagonal Championship and the NCAA Northeast Regional.
