Kersulis, Hacket Produce Historic Performances at Southern Tier Invite

ITHACA N.Y - The Big Red put up strong performances, as they competed with Colgate and Mansfield at the Southern Tier Invite.

Tomas Kersulis registered a time of 21.24 in the 200m which converts to 20.89, currently giving him the 8th fastest time in the country. His time in this event ranks second all time in Cornell history. Kersulis has hit the ground running early in the indoor campaign and looks to continue this success.

Damian Hackett (2:24.82) and Rhys Hammond (2:25.65) led the way for runners in the 1000m event. Hackett is now 8th all time in Big Red history in this event, and came just shy of the Barton Hall record.

Kersulis, Smith Charles, and Dominic Barresi took the top three spots of the 60m finals respectively. Joshua Gittens finished in first for the 400m results with his time of 50.05. Christian Martin (8.05) notched a first-place finish in the 60m hurdles. A Big Red group of Kersulis, Fabien De Silva, Barresi, and Jack Daly led the pack in the 4x400 (3:21.72).

Smith Charles (7.09m) took the top spot in the high jump. The pole vault saw Shane Racey (5.12m) register the best mark of the day. Josh Green (14.68) stood atop all triple jumpers. Brad Morell (16.75) earned a first-place ranking in the shot put.

Next Action
The Hokie Invitational (Blacksburg, VA) and Upstate Challenge (Ithaca N.Y.) will feature Cornell track and field athletes. The Big Red look to ride the momentum of their early season success.
