ITHACA, N.Y. — The No. 5-ranked Cornell women's squash team cruised to an 8-1 victory over No. 10-ranked Dartmouth at the Reis Tennis Center on Sunday afternoon.
Cornell (8-3, 4-1 Ivy) has won 14 of its last 16 against the Big Green, dating back to the 2008-09 season.
With the victory, the Big Red won its fourth Ancient Eight contest of the season, marking the first time in program history that a Cornell team has won four Ivy League games in a season.
Five Cornell players registered victories in three games, including senior
Sivasangari Subramaniam, junior
Wen Li Lai, freshman
Aishwarya Khubchandani, and sophomore
Ananya Dabke — the Big Red's top four players on the team's ladder.
Freshman
Alysa Ali was the other player to log a straight-game victory at the No. 7 position.
Lai continued her torrid start to the season, improving to 11-0 on the year, and has won her last 15 matches dating back to last season. Subramaniam extended her win streak to 24 with Sunday's victory.
Seniors
Lily Zelov (No. 6) and
Ania LaDow (No. 9) won in four games, and fellow senior
Alexis Shatzman (No. 8) won in five games.
Shatzman overcame a 2-1 deficit by winning the final two games, 11-3, 12-10.
Junior
Selena Georgieva made her season debut for the Big Red falling to Dartmouth's Priya Verma in four games at the No. 5 position.
