ITHACA, N.Y. -- Freshman
Josh Baldwin has been named the Ivy League Men's Basketball Rookie of the Week after his efforts in a key 80-73 win over Brown this past weekend. Baldwin is the first Big Red player to capture weekly league rookie honors since
Keller Boothby on March 7, 2022.
Baldwin posted a career-high eight points with two rebounds, two assists, a block and a steal in 20 minutes of action in the win over Brown. More impressive than his numbers were when he accumulated them. The freshman keyed the second run that ultimately gave Cornell the lead in the second half. He assisted on a
Greg Dolan 3-pointer, then followed with a three-point play opportunity 45 seconds later. Baldwin's layup with 11:28 left put the home team in the lead for good. He became just the fifth player at Cornell to post at least eight points, two rebounds, two assists, a block and a steal off the bench in a single Division I game for the Big Red since 1977.
Baldwin and the Big Red hit the road for a treacherous Princeton-Penn weekend beginning on Friday, Feb. 3 at 7 p.m. at Jadwin Gymnasium in a battle for first place in the conference standings.
