Mens Track and Field Continue Historic Success at Dr. Sanders Invitational

NEW YORK, N.Y. - Cornell men's track and field finishes fourth in the Dr. Sanders Invitational at The Armory (Columbia University) that played host to 17 programs including a handful of notable power 5 schools. The Big Red are off to a fast start, having put up record-breaking marks in four consecutive competitions. 

Tomas Kersulis won two events (200m college, 400m college) with times of 21.29 and 46.81 respectively. Rishabh Prakash competed against professional runners in the elite section of the 3000m event, ultimately finishing at fifth overall (7:55.60) which put him in the Big Red record books. Rhys Hammond continued the record breaking trend in the indoor mile, wih his time of 3:58.90 which sits as just the second time in history that a Cornell runner has finished below four minutes in the mile.

Sam Ayers (800m), Perry Mackinnon (mile), Alex M (mile), and Derek Amicon (3000m) were amongst runners who notched PR marks at The Armory.

Notable Marks - Tomas Kersulis set a Cornell record with his first place finish in the 400m event (46.81).

- Rishabh Prakash set a Cornell record in the 3000m event (7:55.60).
- Rhys Hammond became the second Cornelian to record a sub 4 minute time in the indoor mile, registering an all time mark of 3:58.90.

Cornell men's track and field will be back in action this weekend at Barton Hall for the Kane Invitational.
