Navy Runs Past Sprint Football

Box Score ITHACA, N.Y. -- Navy piled up 325 yards on the ground and raced to a 58-6 win over Cornell on Friday evening at Schoellkopf Field. The Big Red slipped to 0-5 in College Sprint Football League play, with the Midshipmen advancing their record to 5-1. 

Both Luke Wanger (104) and Brandon Atwood (101) surpassed 100 rushing yards with a touchdown, while Tyler Massena and Hunter Gennicks scored twice apiece on the ground for the visitors. Atwood also passed for 98 yards and a touchdown, a 41-yarders to Jobe Long. The win was the 14th consecutive for Navy over the Big Red dating back to 2006, 

Sumner Roberts had a pair of field goals, including a 43-yarder as the Big Red stayed in the contest early, trailing just 14-6 in the first. Offensively, Ralph Fleuranvil ran for 104 yards on 20 carries, with Cooper Wise adding 81 yards on just six attempts. Both had a carry of at least 35 yards, with Wise going 48 yards on one rush. Ian Applegate (nine), Jaden Queen (eight) and Jason Schlotzhauer (eight) paced the team in tackles.

The Big Red close out the 2023 campaign when it welcomes St. Thomas Aquinas to Senior Day on Friday, Nov. 3 at 7 p.m. at Schoellkopf Field.
