ITHACA, N.Y. -- Former Cornell women's squash standout Sivasangari Subramaniam added a pair of gold medals to her impressive resume while competing at the Asian Games in Hangzhou, China.
Malaysia's Subramaniam claimed an individual gold medal Thursday, defeating Hong Kong's Chan Sin Yuk 8-11, 15-13, 10-12, 11-9 and 12-10. She won a team gold medal last week.
Thursday's singles match lasted more than an hour, and Subramaniam, who previously won bronze and silver medals at the Asian games, played from behind for most of it. Chan beat Subramaniam the last two times they faced.
Subramaniam, who played for the Big Red from 2018-23, went undefeated as a junior and won an individual national championship. She earned first-team All-Ivy League honors three times.
Subramaniam will play in the U.S. Open Squash Championships on Saturday, Oct. 7, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
