ITHACA, N.Y. — Cornell University's Department of Athletics & Physical Education announced today its partnership with RealResponse. The partnership will support Cornell's aim to foster an environment that encourages open communication, an essential component of the optimal student-athlete experience.
RealResponse works with more than 200 colleges and universities, professional leagues, and organizations focused on fair and safe sport practices.
Cornell has one of the largest and most successful athletics programs in NCAA Division I and the Ivy League. With 37 varsity teams, the Big Red ranks among national leaders with more than 1,200 student-athletes competing each year. Cornell will utilize the tool for consistent administration of surveys and, come January, will add a two-way communication platform to provide a safe and secure way for student-athletes to communicate on issues related to their experience, whether it is sharing praise or bringing concerns to the attention of department administrators.
"We are excited to team up with RealResponse and leverage its platform and resources to better evaluate and understand the Cornell student-athlete experience. It will allow us to benchmark with peers at other institutions, and will provide data to help inform future plans," said Dr. Nicki Moore, the Meakem Smith Director of Athletics and Physical Education. "We are committed to delivering an exceptional student-athlete experience, and RealResponse will offer student-athletes one more way to provide feedback - on a secure platform. It will assist us in identifying and meeting the needs of our Big Red student-athletes, and it will position us to become aware of emerging ideas and trends early, so we can evolve more quickly." Moore continued, "I am especially grateful for the good work of Anita Brenner, Deputy Athletics Director, who facilitated the process of solidifying the partnership with RealResponse, and to our coaches who provided important input that helped refine our approach."
RealResponse is a powerful web-based platform that offers versatile solutions: a survey tool for student-athletes to share feedback each season; a benchmark tool to compare metrics to peer and national averages; and a two-way anonymous communications platform that elevates the voices of all student-athletes, coaches, and staff in the college sports conversation. Using the platform's documentation hub, key personnel can securely store and track sensitive information.
