ITHACA, N.Y. -- Senior
Caroline Ramsey has continued to clean up during awards season, this time taking home the ECAC Offensive Player of the Year honors along with capturing first-team All-America accolades from Synapse Sports. Earlier this week, Ramsey became Cornell field hockey's first-ever multiple-time All-American. In addition to her Offensive Player of the Year award from the ECAC, she was also a first-team All-ECAC selection.
The 2023 NFHCA Mideast Regional Player of the Year and Ivy League Offensive Player of the Year, Ramsey was a first-team All-Ivy and NFHCA All-Region pick for the third time in her career in 2023. She ranked second nationally in goals (24) and points (54), both single-season school records, while leading the Big Red to a second-place finish in the Ancient Eight and a school-record 12 wins. The senior was named Ivy League Offensive Player of the Week four times and was credited with the game winners in eight of the team's victories with three additional defensive saves (second in the Ivy League) from her position in the midfield.
The NFHCA National Offensive Player of the Week once and an honorable mention pick the week prior, Ramsey had seven multi-goal games with four hat tricks and a four-goal effort against Sacred Heart that matched the Cornell single-game record. Three of her game-winners were in Ivy League contests, where she averaged 1.0 goals and 2.29 points per contest. The three-year captain will graduate with Cornell single-game records for goals (4), as well as season and career records for goals, game-winning goals, points, and defensive saves. For her efforts in 2023, she was named to the NFHCA Division I Senior Team.
With Ramsey spearheading the attack, Cornell led the nation in scoring average (3.21), assists per game (3.65), and points per game (10.47), all single-season school records. The Big Red was also second in Division I in scoring margin (1.99).
