Former Boston College Captain Schleicher Joins Women’s Lacrosse Staff as Assistant Coach

ITHACA, N.Y. – Jenny Graap, the Karin Bain Kukral '82 Head Coach of Women's Lacrosse, announced today the addition of Hollie Schleicher as an assistant coach to the Cornell women's lacrosse team.  Schleicher joins the Big Red after playing four years of lacrosse at Boston College.
 
The Sag Harbor, New York native comes to East Hill after suiting up for the Eagles from 2020-23. A two-time captain as a defensive midfielder, Schleicher helped lead the Eagles to three straight NCAA DI Championship final appearances, including a 16-10 win over Syracuse in the 2021 national title game.
 
Schleicher appeared in 65 games over her four years in Chestnut Hill, making 55 starts. During her collegiate career she shined on the center circle earning 242 draw controls, including a career-high 108 in 2022; Schleicher's stats also included an impressive 93 ground balls and 42 caused turnovers. As a member of the 2021 national championship team, Schleicher earned a host of accolades, including NCAA All-Tournament team, All-ACC first team, and Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association and USA Lacrosse Magazine All-America second team after leading the Eagles in caused turnovers (16) and finishing second in draw controls (92) and ground balls with 33.

She is an energetic and passionate leader who is eager to give back to the sport that gave her so much. We are grateful that she will embark on her coaching career at Cornell and believe that her experience winning a national championship and serving as a captain for BC, one of the top programs in the country, will be incredibly valuable to our players," Graap said.
 
The 2023 Boston College graduate with a bachelor's in communication also worked hard off the field, being named to the ACC All-Academic team three times. She also volunteered with Team Impact, an organization that matches children facing serious illness and disability with college sports teams and served as a board member on the Boston College Community Service Board, helping plan and execute various community service events for all Boston College varsity athletic programs.
 
"I am extremely grateful for the opportunity to join the Cornell Women's Lacrosse staff and to have the chance to work with such an incredible program and University," Schleicher said. Additionally, I am excited to become a member of the Cornell Lacrosse family and community!" 
 
The Big Red is gearing up for its 2024 season, which officially begins on Saturday, Feb. 17, when it hosts Cal-Berkeley at noon on Schoellkopf Field.
