ITHACA, N.Y. — The Cornell men's tennis team increased its win streak to open the spring portion of the 2022-23 season to six with a 5-2 victory over South Florida at the Reis Tennis Center on Friday night.
South Florida took the opening point of the match, posting a pair of victories in the top two doubles matches.
Samuel Paquette and
Petar Teodorovic were the lone Big Red duo to win a doubles match, winning 6-3 at the No. 3 position.
Cornell claimed victory in the first five singles matches to finish, four of which came in straight sets.
Adit Sinha (No. 4),
Radu Papoe (No. 1),
Nathan Mao (No. 5), and
Vladislav Melnic (No. 2) were those who won in straight sets.
Aman Sharma won the final two sets in the No. 6 singles match to solidify the match win for the Big Red.
Papoe, who recently entered the top-125 rankings by the ITA at No. 50, continued his dominance in the spring season, claiming a 6-3, 6-3 victory over Davide Tortora.
Teodorovic fell in three sets to No. 114-ranked Alvin Tudorica, 4-6, 7-6 (3), 10-4.
Looking Ahead
Cornell will return to action next weekend when it travels to Hanover, N.H., for the ECAC Indoor Championships.
