Providence, R.I. -- The Cornell men's swimming and diving team is off to a strong start at this year's Ivy Championships. With just two events in the books, the Big Red has rewritten one record and set a top-10 time in the other.
The 200 yard Medley Relay was the first event of the day. The Big Red finished fifth when
Logan Holt,
Sebastian Wolff,
Jeremy Marcin, and
Will Taner combined for a finish at 1:27.25. The time sits as the fourth fastest time in school history. The second event, the 800 yard Freestyle Relay, saw
Jack Banks,
Daniel Simoes,
Pietro Ubertalli, and
Dominic Edwards combine for a 6:28.71 finish, the fastest time in Cornell history by nearly two seconds. The time was good for a fifth place finish overall. This marks the second straight year Cornell has broken the record, and the second time Edwards was on the squad.
The Big Red return to the water tomorrow morning for the 500 yard Freestyle, 200 yard IM, and 50 yard Freestyle prelim round.
