ITHACA, N.Y. -- Cornell women's hoops came up short Saturday afternoon against Yale in Newman Arena, falling 63-42. The Big Red falls to 10-16 (3-10 Ivy), while Yale climbs to 12-14 (6-7 Ivy).
Yale had four players score double-digits; Brenna McDonald with 15, Christen McCann had 11, and Jenna Clark and Klara Astrom each added 10.
Emily Pape led all scorers on the day with 18 points, her 14th career game in double-digits.
Ania McNicholas was next highest for the Big Red, notching nine points.
The Bulldogs jumped out to an 8-0 start before a
Shannon Mulroy jumper got Cornell on the board. Yale grew its lead to 16-6 before
Kaya Ingram added three points to make it 16-9. On a Cornell defensive possession with 1:47 to go in the first quarter,
Summer Parker-Hall was called for a personal foul, which earned a retaliation from Yale's Haley Sabol. She was charged with an intentional foul, and followed by a technical foul leading to her ejection. Big Red closed the first quarter on a 4-2 run to trail 18-13 after the first quarter. The Big Red was out scored 22-10 in the second quarter, bringing the Cornell deficit to 40-23 at halftime. Yale shot 13-for-24 in the first half, and went 6-for-10 from behind the arc.
The Big Red was outscored by just four in the third quarter, trailing 56-35 with one to go. Both teams fell quiet in the fourth, each adding seven points
