HANOVER, N.H. -- Tomas Kersulis led a relentless effort by the Cornell men's track and field team, winning the 200 and 500 double en route to capturing MVP honors at the 2023 Ivy League Heptagonal Championships this weekend at Dartmouth. The Big Red took a strong third overall, scoring 109 points and registering school records, ECAC/IC4A qualifying times, and personal bests all weekend.

Kersulis posted the fifth-fastest time in the world this year in the 500 (1:02.19), grabbed first in the 200 (21.47) while also anchoring the Big Red's 4x400 relay squad. Earlier this year, Kersulis posted a 400 meter time of 45.78 that ranked second in the NCAAs.

The distance medley team of Alex Mocarski, Jack Daly, Mario Xerri and Rishabh Prakash claimed gold in the distance medley, with Prakash running a 4:08.74 over his final 1,600 meters to move from fifth to first, nipping Princeton by .49 seconds at the tape in 9:53.08

Damian Hackett put up a strong performance in the 1000-meter run placing second (2:25.84). The Big Red fielded a 4x800 relay squad that finished in the number two position (7:31.40), as did Brad Morell in the weight throw (19.78). Rhys Hammond's 4:03.17 time was enough to give him the number two spot in the mile.
