Big Red Falls to Canisius, 2-0

STATE COLLEGE, Pa. - Cornell failed to generate any runs in a 2-0 loss to the Canisius Golden Griffiths. Kyrie Denny (six innings) and Maxine McCraw (one inning) both spent time on the mound, with Denny ultimately being credited for the loss. The Big Red's record drops to 6-7 on the season, while Canisius improves to 10-8.

Sydney Coston homered on a pitch from Denny that sent Coston and Tiara Johnson around the bases to give the Golden Griffiths a 2-0 lead at the bottom of the second-inning. This would prove to be the lone scoring-sequence of the contest which served well for Canisius in earning themselves the victory.

Denny faced 22 batters in five innings pitched, allowing two runs on six hits. Megan Giese completed the shutout for Canisius, only allowing two hits, coming from freshman infilder Ella Harrod and senior catcher Celia Macari.

Cornell finished the Penn State Invitational at Beard Field with an emphatic 2-1 record, including a run-ahead rule decision (UMBC) and it's first power-five victory (Penn State) since 2013.
