Atkinson Earns Top Pole-Vault at Outdoor Opener

ITHACA, N.Y. - Women's track and field traveled to the Auburn Classic and Penn Challenge to open the outdoor campaign. Victoria Atkinson cleared her opposition with a mark of 3.90-meters to claim the top spot in the pole-vault. Freshman vaulter Quincy Hansen followed, setting her outdoor baseline with a score of 3.75 to put her in the runner-up position (tied with Ivy-League counterpart Nataliia Ilieva of Penn).

At the Penn Challenge, Avery Brull ran her top outdoor 3000-meter time, putting her in the third position (10:20.44). The Big Red put on a show in the field events at Penn, tallying 11 top-five finishes throughout the throws and jumps. Olivia Rodrigues and Catalina Zaloj matched each other's 1.65-meter marks in the high-jump to place second overall. Meilee Kry (5.75-meters) and Paula-Marie Brown (5.64-meters) took the fourth and fifth spots in the long-jump. Dea Fackovic-Volcanjk (11.91-meters) and Cassidy Cheesman (11.50-meters) ranked third and fifth in the triple-jump. Noelle Elkinton (13.64-meters) took the fifth spot in the shot-put. Phoebe Price-Roberts (54.97-meters) earned second-place in the hammer-throw. Ziling Liu (41.77-meters) earned fifth in the javelin.

At the Tiger Track Classic, Heps 60-meter hurdles champion Ama Boham registered a fourth-place finish in the 100-meter hurdles, ahead of 23 sprinters from the likes of SEC programs. Reyne Rodrigues had a career day in the 400-meter hurdles, with a third-place finish time of 1:02.20. Nia Robinson sprinted her way into the 400-meter dash top-10 (57.50 seconds - seventh), with Delaney Benedict (58.41 seconds) and Glenn Parker (58.66 seconds) falling just outside of it at 11th and 12th, respectively. Robinson, Benedict, Parker, and Rodrigues led a Big Red 4x400 relay group that placed second in front of nine squads.
 
Next Action
The Big Red will return to the course on April 1st for the Stanford Invite and the UConn Dog Fight.
