ITHACA, N.Y. — The No. 21-ranked Cornell men's tennis team is headed to Dallas to square off against SMU on Friday evening.
Doubles action from will open the dual meet at the Styslinger / Altec Tennis Complex is scheduled for 6 p.m. CT. Game action will be broadcast via PlaySight.com and live stats will be provided by smumustangs.com.
Cornell, who is off to its best 12-match start since also going 11-1 to open the 2017 spring season, is riding a four-match win streak going into its match on Friday evening with the Mustangs.
Sophomore
Radu Papoe is currently ranked No. 81 in singles, the lone Big Red player to be ranked in either singles or doubles. This year, Papoe is 8-1 in singles matches all at the No. 1 spot.
Scouting SMU
SMU has a 7-6 record entering its home match on Wednesday against No. 37-ranked San Diego. The Mustangs are in the midst of a five-match homestand, that began on Tuesday against No. 54-ranked Old Dominion, in which SMU posted a 4-1 win.
Four players have split time at the No. 1 spot in singles this season, highlighted by a 4-2 mark by Adam Neff. Louis Cloud has a team-high seven wins in dual matches, while Neff, Liam Krall, Pranav Kumar, Antonio Muniz-Hidalgo all have five wins apiece in singles.
Krall and Muniz Hidalgo have a 7-2 mark in doubles matches this season, including a 7-1 mark at the No. 3 position.
Cornell is 0-2 all-time against SMU with the previous meetings coming in 1994 and 1995.
Looking Ahead
Cornell will face another ranked opponent in its next match when it faces No. 57-ranked Penn State in University Park, Pa., on March 18. Doubles action against the Nittany Lions is scheduled for 12 p.m. Game action will also be broadcast on PlaySight.com.
