ITHACA, N.Y. — The Cornell women's tennis team will open a four-match homestand with a renewal of a Central New York rivalry against Colgate on Sunday afternoon at the Reis Tennis Center.
Doubles action between the Big Red and Raiders is scheduled to begin at noon.
The Big Red (2-10) is coming off a 7-0 victory over Duquesne on Feb. 27, as Cornell came out victorious in all nine matches played in Pittsburgh.
Sophomore
Lan Mi has been excelling at the No. 1 singles spot, posting a 9-2 record on the year. Freshman
Emma Baker, junior
Lauren Stein, and senior
Fatima El Ashram have all registered five victories on the year in singles action.
Scouting Colgate
Colgate is closing off a four-match road swing as it has played already played Wagner and Siena on the road trip. The Raiders, who will also play St. Bonaventure on Saturday before playing Cornell on its way back to Hamilton, defeated Wagner, 7-0, and edged Siena, 4-3.
The Raiders have a 6-3 record on the year and has won its last four contests.
Last year against Colgate, the Big Red claimed a 7-0 win over the Raiders. All six singles matches were taken by the Big Red in straight sets, including former Big Red player
Valerie Ho claiming a 6-0, 6-0 victory at the No. 4 position.
Cornell has won all 16 previous matches against its Central New York rival.
Looking Ahead
The Big Red will open Ivy League play on March 25 when it welcomes Columbia to the Reis Tennis Center. Doubles action is slated to begin at noon.
